Investigations

The Investigations Division is overseen by Sergeant Martin Snyder. There are currently two full time employees, Detective Ryan Peterson and Detective Elvis Cook and one part time employee, Investigator Mark Barnes. The primary function of the Investigations Unit are investigations of Crimes Against Persons, Property Crimes, Missing Persons, Sexual Assaults, Pawn and Second Hand dealers licensing, and the Megan's Law, 290 PC program. Division personnel participate with the regional gang task force, Sexual Assault Response Team, and Sex Registrant Compliance Task Force. They often serve as the liaison between the Clearlake Police Department and the Lake County District Attorney's Office, Lake County Probation, and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. In addition, the Investigations Unit will also write Search Warrants as needed by the department. Ongoing legislative mandates, societal expectations and law enforcement interests require that the investigation of crime be more thorough, complex and resource intensive than ever before. The Unit's hours of operation are generally Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 5:00 pm.
